The Portland Hotel, hotel in Folkestone

Opposite the Leas Cliff Hall, beside the sea and Folkestone town center, The Portland Hotel has a popular bar and restaurant and free Wi-Fi access.

As I have a mobility scooter we were relocated to a ground floor room. This, for obvious reasons, was not the executive room for which I had paid. Also, we did not get the continental breakfast for which I had paid, at £6 per person per night. So, I reckon we are due a partial refund. I have to say, however, that John was superb and a credit to the hotel. He helped me get my scooter in and out of the hotel, as all entrances had steps.

The Grand Burstin Hotel, hotel in Folkestone

Overlooking Folkestone Harbor, The Grand Burstin Hotel offers limited parking, free Wi-Fi and wonderful sea views. Just 15 minutes from Dover, the hotel has a fitness center and 3 restaurants.

I liked the location of the hotel The other reviews was complaining but I will say for the cost it’s reasonable, if you’re looking for just sleep, it’s suitable, clean bedding, room clean, many clean towels, coffees teas kettle, tv , hot water Only fridge not available and the bathroom lock broken If you stay next to a noisy family etc unfortunately it’s very loud, you can hear everything Overall for us we were comfortable and we’re thinking to go again

Folkestone has a lot to offer especially because it's close to other places as many coastal it is suffering a bit I would also say if you don't like steps or extremely steep hills even in the town centre then it may not be for you.

Lovely central location with something for everyone.

Lovely central location with something for everyone. Lovely walks as a whole family. A good range of shops, restaurants, pubs and bars. Canterbury was 20-30 minute drive away which was lovely as we went on a boat tour and saw the stunning cathedral. We were able to get to mist places on foot and there was a lot to do. Parks, beach, harbor arm, cinema, shops and lots of lovely sights. We had a lovely Greek dinner on the harbor arm, however, it was quite expensive. We had a chicken gyros, a lamb one, a chicken gyros bowl, chips and some hummus with pitta and it was £60.

It wasn't my first choice (I was catching the channel ferry and I would have preferred to have been in Dover) but what a pleasant surprise. I was travelling with my dog and I was amazed at how dog friendly the town was. I particularly liked the coastal walks and I enjoyed reading the informational plaques around the town. One thing I found so touching was Remembrance Road adorned with the handmade poppies. I was struck by how much effort the council has devoted to highlighting Folkestone's attractions and making them accessible to visitors. I enjoyed just wandering around the town with my dog and appreciating it's history and sights. Folkestone turned out to be a serendipitous experience and I'm glad that I didn't stay in Dover.

Mostly 'good'. There was dead bug on the bathroom curtain on day one. I knocked it on to the window ledge, it remained the next day, then disappeared. Other than that, things were very clearly being cleaned, so - cleanliness = 'OK'. It cost more than I would normally have spent...but EVERY hotel has increased rates these days making value harder to rate, so - value = 'OK'. I was there for work, I didn't go anywhere in order to rate the location, so : location = 'OK' (i.e. I saw nothing bad).

My stay at Sunny Lodge was perfect! Mike, the proprietor, was gracious about my late check-in and just as friendly and welcoming as the other reviews have mentioned. He assigned me a room that was spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel was quiet and well-located within short walking distance of grocery stores and shops. Folkestone is a charming town, and if you get a chance to stay there, be sure to reserve a room at Sunny Lodge!

Friendly down to earth staff. The hotel bar is a chilled place to enjoy a leisurely evening drink. Folkestone is only a ten minute bus ride away, with a bus stop right outside the hotel. Saves using the car, and allows a drink or two if dining out! Our room was quite adequate, with a super comfy superking bed. Although on a busy through route traffic was calm at night and did not disturb sleep. We will return!!

The hotel is located on a side road, so no noisy main road traffic. The front bedrooms have a superb view of the English Channel and Folkestone Lees. The town "high street" is just around the corner, with a good selection of shops, places to eat and buy essential supplies. The bus station is five minutes walk from the hotel and the train station about 15 minutes. The area has many country walks to enjoy.

I ve been ill as the winds gave me a cold . I stocked up a healthy drink supply from Holland n barret and felt lookingvat thd cafe area the soft drinks looked like a sugar haven..just knaff and cheap..better to hve sparkling water for sale and maybe offer a cordial . The other extreme the restaurant is high ranking . Pls ask around who forgets the Dartford toll? I did..maybe a reminder card at reception?

People complain about this hotel all the time. I don't know what they expect..! I've had better and more personal treatment than 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. There are always people who expect more than they get...but this hotel is one of the cheapest hotels in the region and, for me, they exceed expectations...they go above and beyond their low budget price...

An excellent hotel for an overnight stay enroute to an early Eurotunnel crossing. Great location with easy access to Folkestone sea front, comfortable room, spotlessly clean. A great value alternative to many that we looked at. The local Bouverie Tap pub did excellent food and drinks.

Perfectly located outside Folkestone in a very scenic part of Kent. We was greeted and seen off by the chap (cant remember his name) who I think owns the facility. Lovely rooms, very clean and warm. The bonus of brekkie in bed was the cherry on a big cake! T

You're only meters away from the Eurotunnel and the A20, yet you'd think you were deep in the beautiful Kent countryside. And to think in the past we'd drive into Folkestone for the night before a morning crossing to France. Never again...
