For solitude it is great. The spa is wonderful but for activities, there's absolutely nothing to do. It's an hour drive to everything. The property always provided transportation when requested. The tour operator on site will customize anything you want. The low tide is so far out, you can't swim in the ocean. It's a nice property with one restaurant but I wanted activities and the ability to swim in the ocean. The staff was wonderful!!

The cottage rooms are exceptionally good value for Zanzibar - they are spacious, right on the beach and incredibly private. The food is good and the beach is quiet without beach boys which is a huge plus.

The beachfront location is nice. Feels very secluded, which was a welcome respite. Most of the staff were welcoming and the food / entertainment was enjoyable. We also really enjoyed the massage!

This resort seems as if it’s brand new; every detail has been considered. The staff is stellar, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The included breakfast is delicious and you are Literally steps from the beach.
I had a partial ocean view room and was upgraded for my last two nights- both rooms were great but the ocean view, which was visible from the bed, was great.
It’s a fantastic getaway location.

Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

There is not much to do in the local area other than visit other hotel resorts. We did visit a local school to make a donation and I would advise bringing something with you to donate e.g notebooks, sweets, money

Small remote holiday village with the white sand beach but not having good beach maintenance (seaweed, some dirt on the beach). Little bit far from anything in Zanzibar (far from Stone city and airport, far from spectacular Nungwi and Paje beach). No bars, restaurants, shops and infrastructure outside the holiday resort due to remote location and low density of tourists.

At first sight you can say....what to do here ?....no shops, just some local fruits selling points, no crowded areas, less traffic than anywhere but more nature than anywhere around. It's exactly the opposite comparing with Paje. If you need a quiet, family friendly, uncrowded spot.....ask for Pongwe. And if you want to understand why I'm saying these....just go on Pongwe beach when low tide is there.

I did not visit Pongwe town.
I did not visit Pongwe town. I stayed in a luxury boutique hotel north of the town as I like a quiet holiday. The only problem was the tide leaving an unattractive expanse of muddy rocks. The hotel's pontoon helped with access to the sea when the tide was high.

The accommodation and restaurant in Weavers Lodge was outstanding and the beach was idyllic. The tide tends to be out until about 3pm (July/Aug stay) and there are some sharp rocks - if your feet are particularly fragile, water shoes are a good idea. We cycled to the next village - an enjoyable afternoon trip. Very friendly locals.
It has a beautiful setting, a wonderful beach, it is a small quiet and peaceful resort with very friendly staff. Went for a snorkel out on a boat with local fishermen that was organised by the staff. Beach 1 minute away, directly accessibly from the hotel.
Great experience. If you want lots of action go elsewhere.
A note for vegans: They made me a superb vegan breakfast on request, with fresh fruit and grilled vegetables. Lunch/supper option always had 2 vegan / plant based meal options. Just bring your own plant milk.
Pongwe Beach Hotel is a dream come true! It’s located in a very quiet area surrounded by nature with a private and spacious beach. The Sea View Suite is amazing with a private pool, spacious room with extra items such as beach towels, bottled water, beach hats and a beach bag. The food is amazing and we felt most welcome by the amazing staff which are very attentive and the service is just great. We will definitely come back!
New, well-maintained, clean, nice pool, ocean right under your feet, very nice staff, Very affordable prices. A place for people who want silence, nothing more
Located somewhere... No entertainment, you can walk along the beach in 30 minutes to the place where there are 4 nice hotels where you can eat well, and there is also a hotel and restaurant of a small island. Check the prices before.... Not everyone will enjoy them
Everything was perfect. The Hotel and its facilities are amazing. The room was perfect. The staff were absolutely wonderful! We informed them that we were visiting Zanzibar on our honeymoon and they made sure that we had a memorable stay with them. From the room decorations, to the delicious food and great hospitality of the staff; everything was perfect. Special thanks to Chef Mubarak, Janeth and Esta :)
A beautiful resort with clean and large room. It has beach access, swimming pool and restaurant which is very convenient. I stayed 2 full afternoons in the resort and felt perfectly contented and relax. The staff were very accommodating and approachable, they even packed me a breakfast box when i requested as i have to leave early for a tour. And as a female solo traveller, i felt very safe here.
The breakfast was good, several choices on the menu. I wish I could have kept out of the bread bowl😋. All the meals we had there were very good and reasonably priced.
The hotel and especially the staff were exceptional! They positively cater to your needs.
We used the front desk for day trips and everything went very smoothly. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, our stay was fantastic!
I love everything about this oasis in Pongwe.
The very Kind staff, the swimming pool, the food, thé room, the hoooot water and the vibes. I will go back there as soon as possible. Thé beach Is only 1 min walk From the hôtel but there is a lot of sea Grass. I enjoyed thé wonderful sunset over there. You can enjoy the beach in Kikwenga, only 5-10min away by boda boda (moto taxi).
Modern, very nice hotel, ideal for quality rest, neither too big nor too small. Royal suite is perfect. The Staff is extremely kind, very helpful. Breakfast and dinner delicious, wide selection. The beach dinner event was really special. Special thanks to Ally (hotel manager) and Esther for the constant care, we had a great time there.
We had a lovely holiday at the pongwe bay resort boutique hotel. Very nice hotel, clean and tidy, with excellent and helpful staff. Each guest is treated individually and every need is provided. For breakfast and dinner there is a choice of European and local African dishes. Everything fresh and very tasty. A place worth recommending.
Very good hotel with a very good location. It was perfect. Really the lodge rooms are extraordinary. The view on the waves is great. The food is very good, they renew the menu every day with fresh products. And the place is really beautiful. It was a very good stay. Ultra exotic, bravo!

Lovely new hotel with very friendly staff. The Food and Beverage staff in particular were superb. We had a number of special dietary requirements and the Manager went out of his way to help us with them.
We paid for HB ( breakfast and dinner- *note* all nonalcoholic drinks, wine, beer and cocktails are additional) The food was a highlight of our stay and Consistently outstanding. The Island at Pongwe.
Small place without the extreme luxury feeling of other hotels. Much more personal than other places. Excellent breakfast and good meals otherwise at a reasonable price. Very quiet.
It was really nice

Everything about the hotel was good. There's a nice common area with beds and a pool where you can eat or drink at anytime. The food is different everyday.
