Whitby seems to have it all.
Whitby seems to have it all. Narrow cobbled streets, lovely harbour, every type of food you could want, lots of Jet shops and fossil shops, walks on and beside the beach and of course the famous climb up to the Abbey. Casa Nostra Italian restaurant is a pleasant place to eat and spend the evening. Plenty of pubs and bars of every type.
24hr parking around the harbour is £8.20- £10.80.

A nice place to visit with some interesting sights and shops. However far too many fish and chip restaurants - what happens if someone does not want fish and chips, or is staying for a few days, as we planned to do? there is (or appears to be) very little alternative cuisine options.

For a welcome break away both my wife and I always look to whitby as an additional short holiday. Whitby in its self is always a pleasure to stay our visit for a day out. We would recommend Casa Nostra italian restaurant, a great atmosphere. The food is always in everytime we've booked there excellent with a good drinks selection. Our stay at the Resolution hotel which we always look to book is in our opinion a good choice to stay.

I was on a hiking weekend with my local ramblers.
Hiking opportunities in the areas are plentiful and the scenery stunning. 1st hike was along the Cinder trail then onto the Cleavland way to Robin Hoods Bay , our 2nd hike was a circular Over Goatland beautiful open moorland and countryside lots a varied bird life. We visited the wonderful Goatland steam railways station a little gem of history and a delight for railway enthusiasts.
We arrived Friday and had booked on the ghost tour on Friday night. We met at the Brewery where we enjoyed live music and some sampled their pizzas which they highly recommended.
Rose was a wonderful story teller , engaging and humorous.
Rose had lots of informative history and stories throughout the ages of Whitby and the surrounding moores .
Saturday night we all met at The Magpie Cafe. The food is of a very high standard with an extensive menue. It's no wonder its famous . Booking essential so as not to miss out.
Our room was spacious, bright and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was generous and a bargain at the price we paid. The hotel has a lovely quiet garden and an honesty bar means you can enjoy a relaxing drink before turning in for the night. The location was ideal for walking into Whitby and the picturesque village itself has a nice pub and a licensed cafe further along the river where you can sit and enjoy a nice drink and a meal. There are some nice local walks nearby and you can hire a rowboat or a kayak to enjoy an hour on the river.

Pete and the team couldn’t be more helpful. The venue is tucked away nicely in Egton which is just outside Whitby. The hotel is full of character which is a plus for us. It feels like a very homely comfortable country pub. The rooms are well presented and spacious. The bar and restaurant area has plenty of space, a good variety and the food was sublime. I don’t leave reviews usually but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be coming back. Would recommend to anyone!
Excellent value for money, the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Nice little touches of toiletries and tea /coffee make all the difference. The food was outstanding and the staff were exceptional, they even ordered newspapers to be delivered. Lovely lounge and bar if you didn't want to venture far. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again when we visit Whitby.
Hotel was lovely & clean, beds comfortable, refreshments in room, lovely & warm & right on harbour front, staff went above & beyond especially Jackie on reception, would highly recommend to anyone staying in whitby, as many free hot drinks in the bar, loved the hot chocolate, we will definitely be staying again,
The room had a very good view of the sea and well-placed chairs. The bed was comfortable. The man at reception was able to give us very helpful information about parking and the hotel also provided a limited number of spaces. The hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Whitby.
The accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable. This was close to the beach and it took me only under 10 minutes to drive to my place of work. Everything was very close to one another and the car parking bay was just under a 5 minute walk away from the accommodation.
The accommodation was excellent, very clean and stylish, love the 4 floors, kitchen was very modern with everything you needed, bedrooms were all very spacious and well thought out, as was the 2 bathrooms.
The location was spot on, only a 5 minute walk down to the harbour.
Staff fantastic, restaurant great, bar great and lovely food, location excellent for views and walks to Whitby and access to Robin Hood Bay. Bus stop outside hotel, post office/news agents almost next door. Free parking at rear of hotel...
Really enjoyed our stay. After completing the Endurancelife trail race in Ravenscar the hotel pool and spa facilities were perfect!
Staff all friendly and helpful.
Out of town but it is walkable to Whitby and lots of bus stops.
The hotel is right by the train stop and the bus stop so it is super easy getting into Whitby…and back. I also hiked up the Esk River walk from the hotel to Grosmont one day and picked up the steam train. It was a lovely hike.
The hotel is right in the middle of the amusement section of town. Not as nice as the other side but there were some good restaurants.
The view of Whitby as you drive into town is beautiful and the Abbey ruins were stunning.
The bedrooms are big and spacious and we had a lovely view of the sea. The breakfast is self service with plenty of choice so you won't go away hungry. The hotel location is ideal for walking around Whitby.
Gill was a fantastic host. The room was spacious, comfortable and snacks and drinks provided in the room were a nice little surprise. The location was ideal - only a short 10minute walk to the harbour.

It was a 1-2 mile walk from Whitby. It was dog friendly, the room was clean and very comfortable, and the staff were helpful. The breakfast was very good
